SSD partners from across Victoria, including Grampians Sector Development Team, are facilitating a series of consultations to gather the perspectives of Victorian Support at Home providers in relation to the current Support at Home Program Senate Inquiry.
The inquiry’s Terms of Reference include consideration of:
- The ability for older Australians to access services that enable them to live safely and with dignity at home;
- The impact of co-payment contributions for independent services and everyday living services on the financial security and wellbeing of older Australians;
- Trends in, and the impact of, pricing mechanisms on consumers;
- The adequacy of financial hardship assistance available to older Australians experiencing financial difficulty;
- The potential impacts on the residential aged care system and hospitals;
- The impact on older Australians transitioning from the Home Care Packages Program;
- Thin markets, including those affected by geographic remoteness and population size;
- The impact on First Nations communities and culturally and linguistically diverse communities; and
- Any other related matters.
Two formal responses will be developed from this consultation process, including a dedicated response from First Nations organisations.
Initial feedback will be gathered via survey, which will be released in the near future. This will be emailed directly to all providers in the Grampians Region.
Following the survey process, a series of roundtable discussions will be held to further explore emerging themes and to clarify or confirm key insights where required. There will be limited places available at the roundtables, so if you are keen to be involved – we would encourage you to register your interest now.
